1. Vehicle head unit

   Have WAZE installed on my vehicle’s touch screen head unit. Here are the “problems that I’ve come across, both would seem like easy upgrades to make?

   a) When not actually navigating, 1/3 of the screen is used up with the search bar and my WAZE, resulting in limited visual info. There seems to be no way to get these to go away until needed.

   b) audio alerts for speed cameras seem to have been removed? I get red light alerts but only a visual alert for fixed speed cameras.

2. Wazecam

   Bonjour, mon idée serait de pouvoir associer l utilisation de la caméra du téléphone ou du véhicule avec votre application. Cette amélioration pourrait apporter une sécurité sur l itinéraire des utilisateurs au même titre qu une dashcam. A charge à l utilisateur de l activer ou non. Déplus en cas d accident sur le trajet Waze et l utilisateur pourrait récupérer les enregistrements pour se défendre éventuellement.
   Cette amélioration permettrer d éviter d avoir plusieurs dispositifs pour un même véhicule. Deplus maintenant avec car play l utilisateur pourrait même utiliser la caméra du véhicule directement.

3. New UI Android auto

   I use Waze in Android auto even when not navigating to particular point. I have it open all the time to see updates on the road such as risk, traffic or speed cameras :) After connecting wirelessly to Android auto I always get popup suggesting addresses where I want to go. I have to tap small X button to close because it is covering half of the screen. This is happening after latest update and it is really distracting when I already drive. Connection wirelessly to Android auto takes 15-20 seconds after start so I already drive. Not safe. Unnecessary pop-up.

   BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) — Drivers using some of the major interstates and highways in Northeast Wisconsin will now notice a new alert on message boards warning them when there’s a wrong-way driver.

   It is one of the scariest moments drivers could face — heading down the highway or interstate at 70 miles an hour and headlights come straight at you.

   Brown County Sheriff’s Patrol Captain Dan Sandberg says it’s all too common and often ends with someone injured or killed, as happened on I-41 in southern Brown County in August.

   “It’s almost a weekly occurrence that we have somebody wrong way on the highway. Just recently, again last week, had another wrong way driver on (Interstate) 43,” says Sandberg.

   So when he saw a story we aired recently about message boards in Milwaukee County alerting people about wrong way drivers, he set to work to make it possible here.

   A few phone calls and one meeting later, the new alert system was activated last Thursday.

   Four days later, it was already put to use for an elderly driver going the wrong way on I-43.

   “It could take the officers, depending on where they are, anywhere from a couple minutes to five minutes to 10 minutes to get in that area, and that’s extra time we can warn whoever’s driving on that highway,” says Sandberg.

   “And that way people can be paying attention to it, because if you’ve got two vehicles at speeds of 70-75 miles an hour towards each other, you don’t have much time to react.”
   Here’s what happens: The 911 call comes into the Brown County Communications Center. Deputies are dispatched, and immediately dispatchers then call the State Traffic Operations Center in Milwaukee, which controls DOT message boards and cameras.

   With the punch of a few buttons, an alert reading “wrong way driver reported: use caution” will appear on message boards on the roads where the driver was last seen.

   “If you see a sign come up, what you need to do is start paying attention to every car that’s coming in the opposite direction of you to ensure that vehicle is actually on the correct side of the roadway,” advises Sandberg.

   He says most wrong way drivers are in the left lane, thinking they’re on a two lane road, so if you see one, stay to the right and call 911.

   Sandberg says, currently, alerts can broadcast on message boards on Highways 172 and 29 and Interstates 43 and 41, where he says the majority of wrong way drivers are reported.

   But this is not just happening in Brown County. Sandberg says the Department of Transportation is working to expand the system to Outagamie and Winnebago Counties, too.

5. This is not an idea it is a correction.

   The city of South Pasadena, FL did away with their red light cameras over a year ago as did Saint Petersburg, FL. When I am a passenger I alway hit the not helpful sign but nothing has changed.

6. Declutter map

   There are too many icons that clutters map, such as having 4 or more Traffic Light Cameras or numerous parking options near the destination. Often, the parking suggestions are not even close by, and makes the map very cluttered and difficult to see the route

7. Editing maps

   You need to allow all users to edit maps with speed cameras and the like. Sure if you want to maintain a basemap that your power tripping editors want to keep, fine. But I should be allowed to overlay speed cameras and the like if there is a disagreement by how a local editor deems them necessary or not. You don't want to add it to the basemap? Fine. But I should be allowed to add it to a map that I use or share with my family and friends.

   You also need a better reporting/dispute system that you can plead your case against local editors who think they own the map.

10. Use Waze information to Control Traffic Lights

    Since I'm a long time user of Waze and Google Maps, I was wondering if Alphabet Inc. has considered designing a smart system that would use the data transmitted by Waze clients to program traffic lights.

    From the research I've done, the actual smart systems in advanced cities are based on sensors and cameras placed at the intersections which makes this solution very expensive and thus not attractive to third world country cities. There's even a proposal using RFIDs in vehicles.

    I am sure that city governments would promote vigorously the use of these apps and embrace a solution that wouldn't require rewiring of all the traffic lights.

    The system can be so intelligent that it could predict the incoming traffic from miles away using the routes suggested by Waze and chosen by the drivers.

12. Adding events to the list for people to report on

    Add vehicle stopped in the road causing congestion.
    Add traffic lights not working causing congestion.
    Add police road blocks as well as specifying what police is doing.
    For instance, highway petrol will not be trapping for speed, whereas other would have set up a temporary speed trap using laser devices - not cameras.

    Em todo o Brasil, no período chuvoso, aumenta muito o número de acidentes e danos aos veículos, devido aos buracos na via.
    Uma lamina de água suja pode esconder muitos perigos.
    Acredito que alguns veículos com GPS e câmeras pode identificar, medir e mapear as irregularidades na via, alertando os motoristas e escolhendo uma melhor rota.

14. Automated Incident Emergency Detection & Location Screen Change and 3 type descriptor

    Unless it is your day job, and even then, most people faced with an emergency situation either as a victim or a witness, especially in a vehicle, will suffer immense rushes of adrenaline pumping around the body, any injuries invoke confusion as delayed shock sets in.

    Is there/ can there be any rapid single panic-proof (user option selected) - such as 5 second hold of fingers on the screen in two places simultaneously or gyroscopic sudden impact detection via phone or user holds max/min volume buttons at their max point for a duration (viz like Apple power down) - depending on user settings, additionally, such detection automatically engages the phone torch in user chosen: static, various rates of flashing or SOS. An EMS (country specific) CALL single button press, combined with further settings-related onscreen depiction graphics and text of the INCIDENT LOCATION, directions to then be boldly shown in large simplistic unfussy print on the screen- displaying three of the most common used international location descriptors: 1. What Three Words 2. Long/latitude coordinates 3. descriptive language versions e.g. “I am northbound on the XYZ nn miles from the xyz slip road opposite ZYX building “ combined with options such as send via SMS option &/or turn on handset camera (where applicable) to live link the incident scene for disaster planning teams assessments if necessary. Such crisis do not offer those present with clear thought either the victims or witnesses as shock sets in, and by providing easy-read, unfussy screen display, such pinpoint accuracy, that they can recite to the other end of the call, valuable minutes will expedite all emergency services response and potentially save lives and limbs, Most of these suggestions I envisage to be user settings selected as to how the user is automatically impacted with the change of screen in such situations. It could vary from a small overlaid window with just the 3 location options, all the way to a full EMS window with all options and flashing torches. Either way, in an emergency, something will help those present in providing essential location detail in those crucial minutes. If there is to be an option for ‘voice activated control’ then the initial part should be automatic from the AI not the user, in case they are incapacitated or unable to speak; the AI should time-out to non-vocal after a period so anyone in vision of the display can see the location, in case they are unable to move, but can use their own phone to call EMS instead.

15. Voice Change Glitch and Popping Sound?

    When using Waze with voice enabled it switches to a different voice for some lines? It didn’t always but lately it switches from the normal voice to a young girl calling red light cameras “Stoplight paparazzi” lol. Also, sometimes while driving with alerts only the music lowers and a pop sound plays and the music returns?? What does that mean?

16. Help improve law enforcement accountability by creating an icon that drivers can press when they are being pulled over.

    The primary function of this feature would be to create a transparent public record of drivers’ interactions with law enforcement, creating a database that could be used to improve accountability and reduce racial or other forms of bias by law enforcement.

    Traffic stops are one of the most common forms of interaction with law enforcement in our daily lives. After a rash of recent deadly traffic stops involving African American victims of police violence, there is heightened attention to racial bias in traffic law enforcement. The problem is, academics and policymakers trying to identify racial bias often lack the data needed to draw conclusions and improve interactions with law enforcement. This feature would help address the lack of data and improve police accountability by providing a record of the driver’s interaction with the LEO from start to finish.
    
    Here’s how it could work: immediately upon recognizing that you are being pulled over, you press an icon on the waze app that initiates the traffic-stop protocol. The app would show other users that a stop was underway (just as it already shows the location of speed traps), and use your phone‘s microphone (and possibly also camera) to record the entirety of your interaction. If/when a citation or arrest is made, the user could log the specifics of the interaction (including officer badge number, type of citation and amount of the fine) to create a transparent public record. Users could also enter notes about the interaction, including if there was any physical interaction, the manner of questioning, and the demeanor or attitude of the officer(s). (Other examples include: users could check a box or otherwise indicate whether the officer(s) requested a consent search of their vehicle, something researchers have pinpointed as a common form of racial bias).

    The app could be developed in concert with academics who study traffic law enforcement (and also law enforcement agencies themselves). Any waze user could see the record of traffic stops on the waze website from a computer or tablet, and the information could also be furnished to academics, policymakers, and law enforcement itself.

    This function fits well with waze’s mission to contribute to the 'common good' out there on the road. Anything that can help prevent senseless deaths at the hands of racist or prejudiced law enforcement would improve the common good.

17. Voice navigation bug

    When I in Settings - Sound and Voice turn off sound, in some cases ( for example road warnings, speed cameras) waze send "sound notification" to android, which cause mute music, although waze does not say anything. It is annoying, when I drive in my town, waze is launched only for control my speed (via gps) and sometimes mutes music without any reason. Please, fix this. Thanks.

18. As Guide of Rome I would love to have a Waze to alarm defense vs. terror!

    Nobody knows a City like mine better than local guides. We note every tiny change and danger, if any around: sending an icon of danger or asking for help from a specific location, warning video cameras could be rapidly directed towards the event spot, alarming defense, allowing to call who sent an icon, for more information, if necessary. 19. Keep Police info please!!

    Hello. Please DO NOT eliminate the feature that allows drivers to know about the locations of Police, speed traps, traffic cameras, etc. I saw on the news that Police are asking you to eliminate that info. In Fact, having that info makes drivers safer. Drivers slow down, and respect the rules of the road more. Plus, communicating and free speech are our rights as citizens, and as a community who wishes to be better informed, rather then less informed. Thank you

    Removing alerts from Waze is not planned.

20. Police alerts

    My request is that you create another alert option which is police alerts alone. That is, the options should be: sound on, alerts, police only alerts, and no alerts. For me, the only real alert that I care about is if there are police or speed cameras.

    When I use your app, I typically silence alerts because I don't want to hear about cars stopped on the side of the road and approaching railways, etc. I understand that's important to some people, but for me it just interrupts my music/podcast.
