Stop app closing when in traffic
The app closes when stuck in traffic or stopped for a long time at a red light. That's dumb. If it's important to have the app close automatically then maybe it should at least notify you so you don't keep driving and expecting directions

Add vertical slide feature (navigate / traffic report like)
There are already 2 slide options.
1- If you click the Menu button and slide from left-right you activate the 'Navigate' command
2- If you click the Report button and slide from right-left you activate the 'Traffic report' commandWhat if you implement more 2 slide options, but now vertical (up-down) ?

I would like Waze to show me the recommended speed to avoid multiple stops while in slow moving traffic jam
Especially when driving regular gear cars, you prefer to drive slowly but steady, rather than stopping and accelerating consistently. This is also favorable in fuel consumption manners. In the long run, if a lot of users will obey this feature it could consequently help to promote the traffic congestion by preventing multiple stops, and improve the traffic flow.

Recalculate button and earlier "heavy traffic reported head" warning
I use Waze regularly and quite often 2 things come to mind.
1. Why isn't there a "recalculate" botton available so that I can force Waze to recalculate my optimal road whenever I want to?
For example:
On my way to work every morning (35 km/22 miles away), there is a section of the highway where the road splits in two, and depending on traffic, sometimes going to the right is faster, while other times is faster on the left. Better update lenght traffic jams
My experience in the Netherlands is that it takes a lot of time before a traffic jam that by example is resolved is removed from the map. Why not an option, like danger on the route, to let it manage bij users. You can let know that there is a jam but you can not let know that it is resolved.

Traffic status sidebar on a route
It would be very useful to add to the navigation screen, as happens with traffic jams, a bar that always shows us the traffic status on the screen, identical to the one we see when clicking on route summary but as I say, always on the screen on the same side. than that of traffic jams and that it would be updated by adding problems later without having to touch the screen to see it.

fade out old road traffic instead of not showing at all
at the moment I can only see recent traffic reports, but not those that were reported for example 20minutes ago.
It would be much more helpful if the client would always show the latest reported road traffic status.
the color could be faded out over time to indicate how old a report is.
the client should offer an option of the maximum age of reports that should be displayed and if a wazer reports that the road is free again, then the old report needs to be removed.4 votes -

How do i disable microwave "ding" when stuck in traffic jam?

Some places have traffic jams at same time every day.
Wayz can know this data and show you an alternate duration time based on history (that way you won't be surprised every day by the same traffic jam).

Let users add bad intersections
I live in Toronto, and Waze often suggests routes that get me stuck waiting a long time to turn left, with no left-turn arrow provided by the traffic lights. A really bad one that Waze often suggests is to go east on Eglinton Ave. and turn north onto Trethewey Drive, which is at least a six-minute wait. I would really like to be able to save that intersection as one to be avoided.

Advertise the Waze app on billboards in high traffic areas
I think if Waze advertised the App in particularly high traffic areas, Waze could ultimately get tons of new users and the ability to ease traffic. For example, I live in Williamsburg, Virginia and travel I-64 daily to get to work in Hampton. It's about 33 miles one way. Currently, I-64 is under construction to widen it. During the summer time frame, there are approximately, 20,000 more drivers on this busy section a day that are headed to Virginia Beach and/or the Outer Banks of North Carolina for vacation. I get many times into roads that marked with this or that level of traffic jam, while the road is clear. You should add "ROAD CLEAR" button

Street light integration with viewable timer - In China, like the sidewalk count down, count downs appear for immediate and upcoming lights
I would like you to contact me regarding an article I am considering writing to propose that we as they do in China have lights that show count downs for all light changes. This results in traffic calming, less frustration, fewer accidents, loss of life, and lower insurance rates. It also integrates with their driving apps, similar to Waze/Google. I plan to publish this in a major national insurance magazine and get the attention of the US Department of Transportation as well as signal manufacturers.

Highlight Slow Traffic by Changing Road Colors
Currently, when there is traffic congestion ahead, Waze does not clearly change the road color on the map. Sometimes it only shows thin orange borders, which is not enough for the driver to quickly recognize the slowdown.
It would be much more effective if, whenever there is congestion or slow traffic, the road itself changed color (instead of remaining purple). This would make it easier for drivers to anticipate and react to traffic conditions without relying only on borders or icons.

New Alert ideas can be helpful during winter storm
Winter (frozen) weather was on 01/30/2023 - 02/02 in austin, Texas zip code 78730 and surrounding cities and the damage caused many counties are in the county emergency. My new suggesting alerts will help wazers during this weather event…

Update distance for reporting traffic.
Any time I report heavy traffic, it only highlights about a half a mile. If traffic on a highway is heavy, it doesn’t clear up that fast, unless it’s from an accident that has just been cleared out.
There should also be a way to report back to you guys when we get rerouted to a route that turns out to be more backed up than the original route. This happens to me all the time! I get taken off the highway onto back roads that are jammed and ends up way longer than if I just stayed…

traffic notice from government
In Hong Kong, the transport department of the Government will publish notices for temporary traffice arrangement. There is a open data repleade from the Govrnment under this link "https://data.gov.hk/en-data/dataset/hk-td-tis_22-traffic-notices/resource/0749d573-979a-442b-a97f-8fce8269370d" please use it to update the road status. Traffic Jam Standstill Should be much slower
Waze needs to read the speed of Wazers in a Standstill Traffic Jam better. In the last couple of months, I have not been re-routed around terrible standstill traffic jams because Waze thinks the "Standstill" is moving at 15 mph when, in reality, you're literally idling and moving a few feet every couple of minutes. I see where the app tracks Wazers, so why can't it use their average speed, which was closer to 3 mph?
