Add a grid on the background instead of the uniform grey colour.
This would increase the "sensation" of perspective and, if the grid is at fixed size (example 100x100 meters) would also help in understanding how much space there's before next turn/crossroad/stop....

Interface - needs to revert to 3.x
The new interface looks childish and is unusable in landscape mode. The next instruction box at the top is too big. The notifications are horribly big, and the ones that show when you stop at a traffic light are worse, with the black background.
The map looks drawn by a 4 years old in crayon, seems to lack a lot of the information it had on v3.x., the map lines are too wide.
Having functions that only show when you tap the screen is very bad in usability terms.

Add ability to route via a gas station
Of all the POIs out there, gas stations are the most important. Waze should be able to incorporate a gas station stop into its directions. It should also be possible for users to report the location of gas stations from the app.

Ensure that re-routing doesn't add time to trip
I have had multiple times where I have chosen to take an alternate, parallel road rather than the one Waze wants me to go (such as I-295 in NJ versus NJ Turnpike, or I-95 Express Lane vs. I-95 in Maryland). In these instances, rather than direct me to the next interchange to continue on the planned route from an upcoming access point, it wanted me to double back and reverse course to the original access point, which would've added 20 minutes to my trip, when just continuing on the alternate route would have only changed ETA by 0-1 minute.

Add option to select car pool when navigating
Lets popup "carpool?" button after choosing destination in carpool times. This will help to get corresponding exits and more precise calculations. Sometimes traffic stopped while carpool is open and I dont want to get average estimation and alternative route. Thanks!

Recalulate Route Button / Bird's Eye Route / I'm On This Route Button
Seems like there are lots of these that get one or two votes and die the way of the dodo just like I will assume this suggestion will do. Although the idea behind Waze is social-traffic guidance it doesn't do the commuter a lot of good when they are in route on a multi-lane interstate in the middle of rush hour(s).
We all give permission for Google/Waze/everyone to know our location so use that information to know that we are on the route and recalculate the traffic speeds based on our movement and feedback on our phones.

I would love to see a warning when entering an area that is known for issuing tickets
I am not sure if you can do this with Waze Maps, but i would love to see this feature.
I would like Waze Maps to highlight and issue a warning to drivers of areas that are known to be "ticket alleys"
What I mean by "ticket alleys" are areas that have very high percentage of traffic violations and higher than normal traffic incidences of reckless driving tickets.
There are two counties in VA, Sussex and Dinwiddie Counties that are known for issuing unusual and very expensive tickets like Reckless Driving for a simple speeding ticket.

Routine route driving
As a route driver, i would like to see routes for routine purposes and be able to add multiple locations to a single drive into waze. This would show best routes to go to a routine drive.

Please stop automatic (dynamic) re-routing. Waze no longer is asking for re-routing permission from the user during active navigation. Display unique symbols for hazards reported on the road
At the moment, you have to click on the Hazard symbol to actually know what the hazard is. And as people alway report vehicles stopped on the hard shoulder as being a hazard, its hard to know what action to take when driving unless you know what the hazard ahead is. It is also dangerous to have to click on the small hazard symbol whilst driving. So why not have different symbols for different hazards? Stop alerting drivers to automated enforcement cameras.
When you alert drivers to upcoming automated enforcement cameras, you defeat the purpose of this lifesaving technology. The purpose of the cameras is for drivers to receive a warning or a summons, and permanently alter their speeding or red light running behavior. By offering these alerts, Waze encourages drivers to continue driving recklessly. It is the most anti-social thing your company does.

Waze to take electric car battery status into account
I love using Waze, but ever since I have an electric car I need to switch to the car's own navigation system (which is not so good and efficient as Waze). Reason for doing is the fact that the car navigation takes the car battery status into account and calculates a stop-point to recharge the battery. Waze doesn't do this. Meaning, when I would use Waze I would need to use a second app or platform to check where probably I can or need to re-charge the battery. This is not so convenient. Parking Meter Risk alert
Use crowdsourced data on where and when people see meter maids or get parking tickets so users know the risk of not paying a meter at that time and place. For example if you need to stop into a place for 20 minutes or less, and the risk of ticket is low, you feel better not paying the meter.

The ability to add a speed camera & police checkpoint etc when not driving (GPS)
In NZ we have random police checkpoints & speed cameras
it would be good to have ability to add speed cameras location when stopping further down road or when you have reached destination rather than via GPS

Mark temporary the route as blocked, unavailable, reroute options
Add the option to mark the current route or road segment as unavailable or ability to calculate completely alternate route for the next couple of miles. I found myself multiple times on a suggested route that was closed due to roadwork, incident or event by the police for some reason. I tried to avoid it but waze kept on routing me back that blocking point… I usually have to drive random a lot of miles until the route changes enough so that I can be given an alternate route. Let to use keyboard (as passanger) on Android Auto
As a user, I would like to have with Android Auto the same option as with Apple CarPlay to use the keyboard as a passenger.
Currently, while I'm driving with family f.e. on a highway in my country it's illegal to stop on the side of the road. So I'm not able to enter the destination address while in motion. Take a trip with friends/follow me function
Problem: when my friends and I take a trip with more than 1 car, it is difficult to keep both cars on the same route and with the same stops.
Potential solution: the abality to send a link that would sync up our drives to be able to see where they are on the route in real time. Used to be wake was going over my radio on Bluetooth and now it's stopped doing that. I loved wake because it was working over Bluetooth.
