1. favorites system & usability

   The favorites system in this app feels extremely limited and unintuitive, making saving and using favorites unnecessarily difficult.

   Instead of a proper favorites list, the app relies on a single horizontal bar that requires swiping left and right. This design does not scale: once more than a few locations are saved, finding anything becomes a guessing game.

   Fixed locations (Home and Work)

   Several locations such as Home and Work are fixed and cannot be customized:
   - Names cannot be renamed
   - Icons are oversized
   - Labels are too long and take up excessive space
   - Entries cannot be deleted or reordered

   This is especially problematic for students who do not have a fixed Work location. I know where my university is and do not need a permanent work shortcut, yet I am forced to keep it. At the same time, I cannot add the locations I actually need in a clean, usable way.

   Real-world use cases

   • I have two homes that I regularly navigate to
   • I need quick access to family addresses
   • My university has multiple buildings in different cities

   With the current system, saving 15–20 addresses makes the favorites bar completely unusable. There is no overview, no structure, and no meaningful way to organize anything.

   Expected improvements

   • A real favorites list, not just a swipeable bar
   • A customizable top bar with only the most important favorites
   • Full control to rename, reorder, or remove all favorites (including Home and Work)
   • Optional folders (Family, Friends, University, Other)
   • No forced integration with contacts or calendar

   Other navigation apps handle favorites far better. This app’s approach feels outdated and restrictive. Everything else works well, but the favorites system actively discourages saving locations and makes daily navigation harder than necessary. (an example of an app that has really intuitive ui is "here we go"). I just overall preferred waze, but this is like something that makes it almost unusable to me

   Dear Waze Map Team,

   I’m writing to suggest a useful feature that could enhance the user experience for many drivers, especially those who prefer traveling familiar routes.
   Feature Idea: Route Memory or Same Route Return

   The idea is to allow users to record and save the exact route they take from Point A to Point B, so that they can later choose to return using the same exact path — even if the system finds alternate “faster” or “better” options on the return journey.

   Why This Feature Would Help:
   Some users (like myself) feel more confident or safe returning via the same road they used earlier.

   Current GPS apps often suggest different return paths due to traffic, but that can confuse or stress users unfamiliar with certain areas.

   A “Route Memory” option gives users more control, comfort, and consistency.

   It’s especially helpful for:

   New drivers

   Older people

   People who face anxiety in unfamiliar areas

   Nighttime travel with family

   Delivery drivers wanting to retrace their route

   Possible implementation ideas:

   An option to "Save My Route" once navigation is completed

   A toggle that says “Use Same Route for Return”

   A saved route folder for personal reference

   I believe this feature could be a valuable addition to your already excellent platform.

3. Scaling Waze via Infrastructure Integration and Predictive Routing

   Dear Waze Executive Team,

   I joined the Waze community recently, and as a business owner, engineer, AI professional, and cybersecurity specialist, I immediately recognized the immense strategic value of your crowdsourced data model. Waze has successfully gamified and decentralized navigation; however, the next leap in market dominance lies in transforming Waze from a consumer mapping application into a critical pillar of B2G and smart-city infrastructure.

   I have developed a high-level product framework for a premium or enterprise-tier ecosystem that I call "Dynamic Green Corridors." This feature leverages Waze’s predictive routing engine to interface directly with municipal traffic management centers, creating a real-time clearance system for emergency services.

   I have broken down the high-level architecture into three core pillars:

   Smart City Infrastructure Link: Establishing secure, low-latency API handshakes with municipal traffic management systems. By ingesting real-time dispatch data, Waze can request automated preemptive signal priority — extending green lights or accelerating red-to-green transitions — along an active emergency route.

   Predictive Routing and Congestion Flushing: Utilizing Waze’s historical and real-time traffic data, the AI routing engine calculates exactly where bottlenecks will form 60 to 90 seconds ahead of an approaching emergency vehicle. It triggers a "flushing mode," dynamically altering traffic signals for civilian drivers to disperse gridlock before the emergency vehicle arrives.

   Contextual User-Facing Orchestration: Providing civilian drivers with precise, predictive UX cues, such as an alert stating an emergency vehicle is approaching in 45 seconds and instructing them to clear the left lane. This shifts driver behavior from reactive panic to organized, proactive compliance.

   The Business and Security Case:
   From a cybersecurity perspective, interfacing with municipal infrastructure introduces unique vector risks. This architecture would require a strict zero-trust model, utilizing hardware-security modules and mutually authenticated TLS to isolate traffic control grids from external manipulation.

   Strategically, this positions Waze as an indispensable municipal partner, opening up massive public-sector revenue streams, mitigating city-wide emissions from idle traffic, and drastically reducing emergency response times.

   Given my background across engineering, enterprise security, and business scaling, I see a clear roadmap for how this can be securely executed.    Why Choose AVD for DaaS?
   As a DaaS offering, AVD is highly cost-effective compared to scaling up a traditional virtual desktop environment in your own data center. With the business disruption during COVID-19, companies were trying to find ways to extend their remote work infrastructure while keeping their operating expenses low. 5. Body mass index and cardiorespiratory fitness in MSers: Yes, it matters

   Abstract

   OBJECTIVE:

   This study examined body fatness and its association with cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in persons with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) accounting for disability status.

   MATERIALS AND METHODS:

   This study involved a secondary data analysis from a previous study of 62 pwMS. Body fatness was indirect measured as body mass index (BMI), and CRF was measured as peak oxygen consumption from an incremental exercise test with spirometry. Participants were allocated into 3 different groups based on established BMI categories (ie, normal, overweight, and obese), and data were analyzed using SPSS.

   RESULTS:

   The average BMI was 27.0 (6.7) kg/m2 , and CRF was 19.5 (7.2) mL/kg/min. There was an inverse correlation (pr = -.38 [-.57; -.14]; P = .003) between BMI and CRF controlling for age, sex, disease duration, and disability level. ANCOVA with linear contrast analysis revealed a statistical significant reduction in CRF between groups of different BMI categories; normal weight 20.8 (0.85); overweight 19.8 (1.13); and obese 16.9 (1.73) mL/kg/min; F (2, 55) = 3.33, P = .043; η2 = .11.

   CONCLUSIONS:

   The findings suggest that BMI has a negative impact on CRF in pwMS, with a marked reduction in CRF for those classified as obese compared to those in the normal and overweight category.

6. Improve UI input focus and input item navigation for non-touchscreen use

   I use Android Auto in a 2023 Mazda 3 that does not have a touchscreen (has only a rotary knob controller) and navigation focus is often frustrating. When an alert pops up, the focus goes to it (OK) but when done and it closes, it lands input focus on the "search" icon I think it is (this is bad...it should go back to where it came from). I usually leave my focus on the icon for reporting hazards, since that is what I am 95% likely to want to do while driving. But it doesn't land back there again after the popup goes away and it's distracting to have to take extra action to reposition the focus where I want it again. The highlight for the focus also needs to be a little more obvious. It's light blue which is consistent with Waze's colors and branding, but the problem is that it doesn't stand out and in a non-touch environment I need it to stand out.

   Another thread has mentioned that the alert popup focus also has issues. If you respond immediately to "still there" or "not there", it works OK. But the longer it stays on your screen and the distance counts down, it looks focused but isn't. The input focus gets moved to I think the search icon before the popup has expired and pressing on the car's knob doesn't produce the expected action on the alert popup.

   I also have found that I can zoom in/out on the map, but I cannot find any way to move the map up/down or left/right in my non-touch environment. It's either not there or it's totally not obvious how.

   Pretty much, go try most of Waze's functionality in a Mazda with no-touchscreen Android Auto for an hour or so and you'll see most of the deficiencies. Input focus is easy in a touchscreen because where the focus is doesn't matter because your finger will move focus and perform the input in one step, but in a non-touchscreen environment the behavior of automatic focus and UI navigation is very important to consider more carefully.

B. bevorzugte Landstraßen oder eine bestimmte Autobahnauffahrt) in die Routenplanung einzubeziehen, ohne dazu komplizierte Zwischenziele setzen zu müssen. Aktuell führt die strikte Orientierung an der „optimalen“ Route in ländlichen Gebieten oder an komplexen Autobahnzugängen oft zu unnötigen Abbiegungen, Schleifen oder unnatürlichen Umwegen.

Along with that, include an option that lets the app switch seamlessly between local roads and highways whenever it’s the most direct flow, instead of forcing unnecessary turns, detours, or complicated reroutes.

   The idea is to give users more precise control over how the route should run while still keeping all traffic-based optimizations active. This would avoid situations where Waze tries to bypass a direct connection just because of how it categorizes certain road types. With shaping points and smoother road-type transitions, users could prevent inefficient maneuvers and make the route match real driving logic more naturally.

8. Automated Incident Emergency Detection & Location Screen Change and 3 type descriptor

   Unless it is your day job, and even then, most people faced with an emergency situation either as a victim or a witness, especially in a vehicle, will suffer immense rushes of adrenaline pumping around the body, any injuries invoke confusion as delayed shock sets in.

   Is there/ can there be any rapid single panic-proof (user option selected) - such as 5 second hold of fingers on the screen in two places simultaneously or gyroscopic sudden impact detection via phone or user holds max/min volume buttons at their max point for a duration (viz like Apple power down) - depending on user settings, additionally, such detection automatically engages the phone torch in user chosen: static, various rates of flashing or SOS. An EMS (country specific) CALL single button press, combined with further settings-related onscreen depiction graphics and text of the INCIDENT LOCATION, directions to then be boldly shown in large simplistic unfussy print on the screen- displaying three of the most common used international location descriptors: 1. What Three Words 2. Long/latitude coordinates 3. descriptive language versions e.g. “I am northbound on the XYZ nn miles from the xyz slip road opposite ZYX building “ combined with options such as send via SMS option &/or turn on handset camera (where applicable) to live link the incident scene for disaster planning teams assessments if necessary. Such crisis do not offer those present with clear thought either the victims or witnesses as shock sets in, and by providing easy-read, unfussy screen display, such pinpoint accuracy, that they can recite to the other end of the call, valuable minutes will expedite all emergency services response and potentially save lives and limbs, Most of these suggestions I envisage to be user settings selected as to how the user is automatically impacted with the change of screen in such situations. It could vary from a small overlaid window with just the 3 location options, all the way to a full EMS window with all options and flashing torches. For users who do not cross the state border but find themselves in the border zone, a message/image will appear on the navigation with the text "Border zone" that will last 5 seconds, and the navigation will say: "Border zone."

    In the case of a border with a country where the border crossing has no customs clearance and is a free passage, for example the town of Piwniczna, the navigation will say: "6 km to crossing the border."
