Auto dimming
When not using a car charger, it would be nice to have an auto dimming option to save battery.
This would work by automatically dimming the screen to almost complete darkness when on long stretches of road without any turns. As a turn approaches or for any alerts, the screen returns to the original brightness level. This will save a lot of battery.58 votesConfigurable at Settings – Battery saver

Avoid Dangerous Areas
Please add a new option under Navigation settings or Maps views called Avoid Dangerous Areas.
This option should allow the map's builders to mark this areas that could be dangerous for the drivers. Sometimes the best road is not the faster if not the more safely....
Then if the option is active avoid this areas.
27 votesGreat news! Ther feature about avoiding dangerous areas is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

UK Railway Network LOW Bridges Add Visual and Audible Warnings on approach
UK Railway Networks has 100s of LOW Bridges across UK. Please add Visual and Audible Warnings on approach and give drivers an option to AVOID low bridges. i.e. ask height of vehicle and suggest alternative routes avoiding low bridges. I am happy to help to source a list of all Low Bridges on UK Rail Network.
Every year in Britain there are about 2,000 bridge strikes, where road vehicles hit railway bridges and viaducts – that's an average of more than five every day. Each incident can cause hours of delays for tens of thousands of rail passengers – and …

Potholes are problems on the roads. But long stretches of pothole-ridden sections are also an issue.
Potholes are problems on the roads. But there is something even more annoying, which is larger sections of the road that are completely holed or damaged. The suggestion is to create a new type of alert that is more lasting. Something saying "Damaged section ahead." Perhaps many countries do not suffer from this, but here in Brazil, whether in small towns or capitals, this is extremely common.

Fuel consumption trip
Ask the user the car consumption (L/100km) and the fuel price (cost per liter) in the settings, then calculate the fuel cost of the trip. (This trip will cost 12,4€ in fuel and 3€ in toll.) Like in the Mappy website for example.

Heads up Display (HUD)
make an heads up display icon so that the user can place it on their dash and the reflection will show up on the windshield.. for night time driving whee it is safer to stare closer to the road versus looking down...other apps use this idea but they dont have the GPS ability..it will set waze apart from all other GPS systems..and make it look extra cool!

Calculate fuel consumption and show cost of the route
It would be great to be able to enter the average fuel consumption for certain speeds for your vehicle and then while calculating show also the cost of the route. It can be calculated by known speeds on the road, the need to stop and go on traffic lights, the overall profile of the route. There is an iPhone app that can serve as an inspiration - http://drivegain.com

CB-like push-to-talk (walkie-talkie) button to talk to wazers around you.
CB-like push-to-talk button to talk to wazers around you in an adjustable radius area or on the same road. This would be a very used feature in Romania, where CB transceivers are very used in cars. Many people who do not have a physical one would use the Waze alternative, and many would switch from physical CB to waze.

Location and type of landmark in search results
For easier identification of a landmark, it could be great, to know the settlement or road which is near it and the type of the landmark, after the name of the landmark, like this:

Waze always sends me on a route with 2 tolls, I want to limit to 1
Waze always directs me to a route that requires 2 tolls, when for 2 extra minutes I only have 1 toll. It's not worth it to pay a 2nd toll for 2 minutes - and Waze hasn't recognized that I almost never follow its suggested route.

Be able to show an accident or hazard for the opposite side of the road. Many times, we'll see it on the opposite side.
Many times, we see accidents on the opposite but when we report it, it says our side.

Reduce the excessive frequency of too many warnings on the same stretch of road
Good morning.
I would kindly like to suggest an implementation of functions, regarding voice warnings, as they are truly TOO MANY and TOO FREQUENT on the same stretch of road! Very repetitive indeed, and so distracting!
In fact, constantly hearing the voice assistant that in a verbose way warns you every 200 meters, instead of just once, or at most twice, no longer makes you pay attention to any turns or changes. We couldn't even talk to each other in the car anymore, with that continuous non-stop voice every two minutes! I had to disable them completely and proceed…

Prevent Waze from sending drivers on roads with no cell coverage.
Waze sent us onto a snowy mountain road with a 20 car pileup blocking it. There were very dangerous conditions on this road. Wazers were unable to connect to the network because there was no cell coverage on the road. In those cases where there is no cell coverage Waze should somehow check with emergency services.
