Low emission zones avoiding
The same principle as avoiding toll roads.
It is enjoying when Waze plans the way through the London (or any other city with low emission zone) and then you find out you have to drive back and find your way around the zone without any assistance as Waze still thinks you can go through the zone.111 votes -
Stop routing traffic inappropriately
I am contacting everyone at Waze right now. Waze is causing problems.
Highway 17 from San Jose to Santa Cruz is notorious for its beach traffic. Waze directing traffic thought downtown Los Gatos and on to mountain side roads to avoid this.
STOP DOING THIS!
First of all this is causing horrendous gridlock in downtown Los Gatos. The town has put up signs telling Beach Traffic to stick to Highway 17. Drivers are ignoring this because Waze gives tells them they can cut thru Los Gatos. This is causing MASSIVE problems.

Automate road closure Report
It is difficult to report road closures in real time - especially on a freeway - because of the approach speed and unexpected driving adjustment. If Waze inquired why I missed a turn/off-on ramp it would be helpful. This is similar to when Waze asks "you slowed down - are you in traffic?" If Waze notices that I missed a turn/off-on ramp it should ask "you missed a turn- was there a road closure ?" This way I can report later ( give me 60 secs) when safe. Using the smartphone's front camera for alert about driver's tiredness
In Android there is a feature named "smart stay" which allows the smartphone to recognize, using the front camera, if the user is watching the screen (in order to turn off the screen when not in use) - see

Your warnings for police reports are to late. You can already see the cops just before your warning come out. It needs to be at least 1 mile

I'd like an option for larger map icon sizes. The current icons are too small for me to make out at a glance.

Show border line on map
Since the corona virus crossing borders in Europe isn't that easy as before. So it would be nice if I could see the border line clearly on the map. A thick red line for example (like google maps) or something similar would be neat.
It also makes things easier to navigatie if you know whether you entering a different country when planning your route. In Europe, this sometimes could be the case.

Add option to add sound decibel readers
NYC specifically in the 5 boroughs of new york as well as a couple of other states started a program for sound decibel readers to be installed through out the city in other words noise cameras for cars and motorcycles. NYC has always been a loud place so this is un necessary. It is also not right towards cars that come from the factory stock such as scat pack chargers, hellcats, mustangs, harley davidson motorcycles, sports bikes, As well as many super cars. Any possibility in the future to be able to choose RV or Tractor Trailer as your vehicle then trigger truck routes that would send you around low clearances or sharp turns, step grades etc.?

Map scale indicator
Have you ever wondered how many miles long that traffic jam is up ahead? I sure have, but Waze gives no indication of distances on a map. How about one of the little bars that indicates the scale of the current map view - you know 1 inch equals a mile, etc.

Toll roads
When entering in a destination, please put the toll roads option there instead of in the settings. I am a driver in New York City. All day long, I would need to go into settings and check/uncheck toll roads. When I drive a passenger, of course, all the toll roads are taken, but when returning, I avoid as much as possible. Please change the tolls feature to somewhere when entering in the destination. Thank you

Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Not right now, since we finalized our plans for 2023 and this idea won't be implemented this year.

More Road Closure Options
While navigating, if a road is closed, we have the option to enter that a turn is closed. You can enter construction, with temporary, or "several hours", or "several days". You should be able to enter times. For example, a road near my work is only open from 530am - 6pm M-F. There is no way to submit that.

Routing server timeout on long drives
Since the app seems to consistently time out looking for long drives, I would recommend allowing more back end resources be used for drives over a certain mileage or time. This might require an upgrade based on the high number of users.
Instead of having just one option, I would like to be able to choose between options since there are riskier routes for adding traffic.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue since I can have perfect service on an iPhone 6S and consistently have your servers time out.

Report dangerous area or attemp assault, theft, etc.
The same way we can report the traffic, it would be interesting to get to report if you saw in front of you or you was was assaulted, robbed or threatened. This way other people can avoid the way, the cops can see where there are bad guys acting and so on. If you're nearby your cell also would play a sound like gun fire. :0).
