1. AskWazersBox - a hybrid reporting tool enhancing Wazers and Map Editors cooperation

   As StreetView is often outdated or just does not exist when trying to keep Waze Maps updated with latest road constructions or changes, road configurations/restrictions/speed limits/signs etc. needs to be checked and verified on-spot. There's no chance Waze Map Editors will go and check everything themselves. We have so many Wazers driving around that could help them answering specific questions.

   I suggest creating a hybrid reporting tool that would extend existing reporting functionality and help Waze Map Editors gathering specific answers they need directly from Wazers who are on-spot. This would let to keep Waze Maps updated as fast and accurate as possible. Let's name it AskWazersBox.

   Tool should let Map Editors to create a standalone object or mark an existing point/segment/area and specify a question as well as predefined answers and/or request a photo. A Wazer that crosses/enters/approaches the spot would get a popup asking to answer the question and/or to post a photo, similar like it is for fuel prices or when approaching a destination. If none of predefined answers are suitable, Wazer should be able to comment in free text.
   Tool also should let to select which level Wazers are prompted to answer the question to ensure quality answers depending on problem complexity.
   To prevent trolling or otherwise abuse of the tool, I believe it should be enabled for Editors that are level 3-4+.
   Also, obviously, some users may not want to get extra popups, so Waze client should have a setting/consent "I agree to receive questions from Waze Map Editors" which could be enabled by default but users also could choose "do not show again" etc.
   To prevent some forgotten AskWazersBox'es, it should be possible to set an expire period after which it stops sending questions to Wazers and only stores gathered responses for some limited time.

3. traffic light sequence

   Major cities have synchronized traffic lights.
   I'd suggest a couple of Waze features to help drivers make use of these systems:
   1. indicate the optimal (real time) speed to "catch" the light sequence and optimize mpg by avoiding stops and braking
   2. reroute to side streets to "parallel" dense traffic that's too slow to catch the light synchronized sequence (e.g. 19th ave, hwy 1 along main beach, geary blvd during commute hours)
   3. learn the real time light sequences (especially to sync the cross streets for the whole route, e.g. going from 25th ave to geary blvd ... miss the sequence and your ETA immediately ticks down minute by minute till you get in sync with the light sequence.)
   4. as with google maps, make it easier to identify when a trip can be driven appreciably more efficient (time, traffic slow downs, energy wastage) at different hours of the day.

4. Add a "Not a Hazard" button

   Too many people report cars parked in rest stops and small divots as hazards.

   If there was an option to report back to the user that the car or pothole they reported as a hazard shouldn't have been.

   The button would compliment the "still there" and "not there" buttons and maybe notify the original reporter if (say) 3 or 5 "Not a Hazard" reports came in.

   Users that continue to report incorrect hazards could be blocked from reporting for a month or so.

5. Allow me to delete the hazard "Vehicle stopped on shoulder" without deleting all hazards

   You need to be able to split which road hazards you want or don't want. I would kill to be able to stop being told about a vehicle on the shoulder but still be able to know about other hazards. Seriously, if the vehicle is on the shoulder it isn't a hazard.

6. Speed synchronization with traffic light changes to save fuel and pollution.

   The idea: an ecological 'green wave' feature

7. 2 major bugs affecting Carplay

   For many months now Waze has had 2 infuriating bugs in Carplay

   1) Stops dynamically rerouting if I try to check alternative routes. To get it to return to normal I have to close the alternative routes screen on my car's infotainment screen (OK, that's normal), but then I also need to pick up and unlock my phone so I can close the alternative routes display on the phone as well. Until I do that, Waze gets stuck following the highlighted route and stops rerouting if I deviate from the highlighted route. It took me MONTHS to figure out what was stopping it from re-routing.

   2) Aspects of the phone screen are in day mode even though it's configured to be permanent night mode. The only way to resolve this is to select day mode in the settings menu, then select night mode again.

   Both bugs are 100% reproducible every time.

    I have done long routes in the past and half of the Stops that it finds are near my end point far in the distance and unnecessary for what I'm looking for at the time.

    So an additional question "Close, or futher down" OR "Within the next _miles or _ minutes " would get better results for folks looking for a good stop either now or later on.

    But last update removed option for vehicle stopped on road you have a choice of objects stopped or vehicle on shoulder, since then I've come up with two times cars have broken down on the roadway

14. Don't Record Client Tracks within Origin/Dest Zone

    As a new wazer and getting into editing I noticed several "map problems" and new roads caused by entering/exiting parking lot or building structures.

    Current work around is to add Parking POIs or add the parking lot roads as road type parking.

    I believe this could be alleviated by simply not having Waze client record or "count" the GPS track within a set distance from Origin (time device first plugged in or new navigation started) and Destination (device turned off or navigation stopped)

    I would recommend a distance of about 100 yards.

    This should help cut down on the extra roads caused by normal leaving/arriving patterns.

    It could even be utilized when the new pause feature is added to the client. Saving the headache of correcting map problems/roads for frequented gas stops.

15. Take a trip with friends/follow me function

    Problem: when my friends and I take a trip with more than 1 car, it is difficult to keep both cars on the same route and with the same stops.

    Potential solution: the abality to send a link that would sync up our drives to be able to see where they are on the route in real time. If the future route changes, the device that did not initiate the change would be able to accept the change. If either car gets off the shared route, a notification would be sent to both users and the user who is behind would be able to start a route to get back on the same route as the other drivers.

    Additionally, there could be a follow me function where one vehicle is able to follow another without putting in a destination.

    Finally, backseat drivers could add stops rather than having the driver enter it in.

    Would love if - after select your destination, In the section where gas icon is -ADD rest area icon, which would then populate upcoming rest areas and miles away along route. ..
    in addition. Have a specific Rest area icon that shows up as your driving the route ((just like the train tracks notice comes up or a hazard notice comes up ))
    Business justification. .. most people driving and using GPS. Are not intimately familiar with the stops or areas - this helps for safety instead of getting stranded somewhere. Thank you for your time.

17. Plan a Drive - Needs Significant Improvement

    If Waze wants to be the go-to app for driving, planning a trip needs to be significantly easier. I just tried to schedule a work travel drive with multiple stops to get to reservations on the way, and only one stop is allowed along the route. Also, adding that one stop took me 10 minutes to figure out. The user interface is not intuitive for adding a stop.

    I recommend adding features to the computer app that can be sent to your phone. Planning a trip on the computer is significantly easier than on a phone app, and currently, Waze doesn't even allow "add a stop" on the computer app.

19. Auto Launch app when connecting to a specific bluetooth device (Car)

    It's something that holds me back to switch to Waze. I need the app to start up automatically when connecting to a self set chosen Bluetooth network.
    That way you never have to touch the app for starting automatically when driving. Only when you want to use the app when navigating.

    I think this stops a lot of users changing to Waze.

20. Reporting Turns of Apple Music in CarPlay

    Since the "Talk to Report" feature was introduced for user reporting of road hazards etc, as soon as I touch the Report button Music stops and Waze chimes in. This works, but the music won't turn back on. This regardless of the fact that "Talk to Report" is turned off in settings on the iOS App. So far the only cure for Music is to reset the phone (and never report again)! This is a shame, as I like to be part of the community, but the current price is too high.
