  1. Settings for types of alerts to allow

There are many types of alerts the Waze client can display as a layer on the map and/or pop up on your screen, sometimes both visual and audible. We would like to see an new Settings area added for the types of alerts we want to see and/or ignore and never have a notification appear or be heard.

The notifications should include at least, but not necessarily limited to:
    Speed cams
    Red light cams
    Police (speed trap)
    Road Hazards
    Road segment speed condition
    Traffic Jams
    Chit Chat
    Accident

Great news! For each type of report/alert you’re able to specify whether you’d like it do be displayed on the route. Accessed via Settings – Alerts&Reports – Reports. What’s more, you can choose area (e.g. 5 km around you) for which reports will be displayed on the map.

  2. Lock the chosen route

When i choose a route, I want the option to just follow that without change! Sometimes waze changes the route because of allegedly less traffic route, but the reroute takes me longer & farther! Sometimes I just want to stick with the original route! Give us this choice!

  3. Add "avoid border crossings" setting, just like avoid toll roads or ferries.

Navigating from New York to Detroit, there's a route that crosses through Canada. I didn't bring my passport and wish to avoid this, but if I manually force another route, I might miss out on traffic-responsive optimizations. It should be possible to avoid border crossings just like any other route preference.

  4. Autodetect closures and closed roads

Waze should automatically detect closures and close roads without relying on Wazers to use the in-app closure function or on map editors to add them. Just as Waze can detect traffic and reroute, it could also detect when no one follows the directed guidance and there is zero traffic on a segment. Then when Wazer start driving on the segment again it could reopen.

Google Maps (part of Google Geo) gets closure info from Waze. And Waze (part of Google Geo) should also get closure info from Google Maps. It doesn't now, and instead will route Wazers into a closed…

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We're pleased to confirm that this suggestion is planned and we appreciate your input as we continue to enhance our product.

  5. Estimating the time to pass tunnels using average speed

When Waze suggests a path with a tunnel, the estimation time is always incorrect, and I cannot conclude that this is the best route. For example, if the time to pass a tunnel without traffic is 2 min and I pass it in 10 min (because of traffic), then after I came out of the tunnel, the estimation time become +8 min. I think Waze uses instantaneous velocity and GPS location to estimate traffic. In tunnels, GPS doesn't work (and many of tunnels don't have beacons), so Waze does not compute traffic in tunnels. This issue can be…

  6. To have options to report unsafe areas (Eg.South Africa - Riots) so that tourists and people unaware don't drive into said areas

I am from South Africa and unfortunately we often have riots and there are areas that aren't safe to drive. It would be good to have an option that allows this to be highlighted or reported (as we do with traffic) so people that are unaware don't intentionally drive into dangerous areas.

  7. Waze for motorbike

The best functionality for the biker would be to develop a "Biker Mode" which not consider the traffic jam to calculate the best route.

  8. Recurring Weekly Planned Drive

Have the ability set a planned drive to repeat every day, weekly. With a starting date and til a set date or never to expire.
I go to work every morning at the same time, to the same place and there is a bunch of traffic: is a pain to have to set up this great feature every week

  9. navigation waypoints

Only mapquest currently features navigation waypoints.

On a journey from locationA to locationZ one might want to pre-plan gas fill up locations, or additional points of interest. These are waypoints, or places to stop along the way.

LocationA to locationB to locationC ... to locationZ

To accomplish this now in Waze is a bit tedious

    locationA to locationB
    locationB to locationC
    locationC to locationZ

One ought be able to enter all the locations and either specify the order of the waypoints OR allow waze to optimize some- or…

  10. Make icons larger.

New version icons for haz and police are so small you have to zoom in to a small map grid to see them. When there is a problem wreck slow traffic police ahead you miss you last turnoff due to being zoomed in so close. Please give option to zoom out and still see critical icons

  11. Map Zoom

If I am on a Waze path trying to see where I go next, the zoom feature does not work all that well. I'd like to be able to zoom out to see where I am going and to check traffic, but the zoom only will go out for a second, then zooms back in. NOt a fan of this feature and finding myself using Google maps to check traffic and see a path on the map as opposed to Waze zoomed in on the next 500'. I cannot get the map to zoom out to a decent level.

  12. Create your own waze character(mood)

Create your own waze character I think in keeping the same "waze" concept just more variety, so if it were rush hour with Hazards everywhere I could actually find my spouse in the traffic jam by a little something different

  13. Either allow users to disable popup notifications, or reduce the amount of screen real-estate used to display it

Popups for slow-downs in traffic, traffic cameras, etc may be useful, but why not condense the information into a smaller area which doesnt obstruct ones view of the route. Secondly, why do I need to see the same notification repeatedly when I've already acknowledged it for the first time?

  14. Put app in Tesla S

Partner with Tesla to have Waze added (or replace Google Maps). I have a Tesla S and the customized Google maps that comes with the car is often VERY wrong about directions and traffic. I end up using Waze on my phone to find the best alternative routes. Give Elon Musk a call!

  15. Add "Residential Street" as an Additional Road Type

There tend to be situations in which neighborhoods and suburban communities have systems of roads such that there are a few feeder roads that are intended to serve a network of smaller residential streets. In the current state of the map editor, it can be difficult to map such areas so that traffic is generally directed along the streets with higher speed limits and fewer driveways. Usage of the prioritizing functions and setting certain segments as private roads helps a bit to alleviate this problem. I am suggesting a new idea.
Create a road type "residential street" for roads that…

  16. To stop WAZE from automatically shutting down

Could it be possible to keep WAZE active, until the user closes the app down. Ok here is what WAZE has done for years. You activate waze, put in your route and go. You then minimize Waze. Waze happily stays active if you are on the move. BUT become stuck in traffic, Waze will just shutdown. Could Waze be designed to not shutdown the app if minimised, when you are stuck in traffic. It is so annoying. You won't realise Waze is shutdown unless you look at your phone screen and fire Waze back up again, which well…

  17. Option for simple sounds instead of vocal phrases for hazards, police, construction, traffic, etc...

It's great to have so many voice options, but even the best ones can get annoying on long trips. A simple tone for "Vehicle Stopped on Shoulder Ahead" would be nice, as would a quick WOOP-WOOP to indicate "Police Reported Ahead".

  18. Change the route color from purple to green, yellow or red, depending on how recently the route has been 'swept' by another Wazer.

Change the route color from purple to green, yellow or red, depending on how recently the route has been 'swept' by another Wazer: Green = route traversed by another Wazer no longer than 2 minutes ago; yellow = 2 to 5 minutes; red = no Wazer traffic within the last 5 minutes.

  19. Time-based Map Topology

In Washington, DC specifically, and in other cities around the United States (and probably around the world), certain turns are illegal between 7:00-9:30 am or 4:00-6:30 pm. More challenging, Rock Creek Park - a major commuter route that is often utilized by Waze - allows southbound traffic only between 7:00-9:30 am on mon-fri, and northbound traffic only between 4:00-6:30 pm on mon-fri. Waze is unable to factor in these restrictions, and becomes of limited usability during these times. Its really frustrating for me, and my partner. Please, please, please fix this? I'm afraid one of our phones might go flying…

  20. Announce verbally route and delay changes

At the moment if the route changes then Waze makes a chirp sound. I would like it to actually say "Route Change" or perhaps "Route recalculated due to change in traffic conditions" and then "Arrival time is now 7.34 pm". Or "Traffic delay has increased/decreased by 5 minutes". These announcements should be capable of being enabled/disabled in settings to allow for different user preferences. Personally I don't like reading messages on the phone screen while I'm driving - I would rather messages be read out verbally so I don't have to look at the screen as much - safer!
