1. Bus lane - options to enable them and present them on the map

   I have EV and I have enabled EV mode. In my country, EV can drive on bus lane.
   
   I was expecting that Waze would take that into consideration and it is : yesterday, when I set up the destination, Waze told/asked me that "The route might contains directions on bus lane". I had the checkbox to hide the prompt in the future (which I marked) and button like ok/dismiss (I don't remember). This is great.

   However I would like to unmark the button now and there is no option in UI (iOS) for it. Also while driving or checking the route, I would like to know where/which bus lanes are planned to be used, so some visualization around that is highly welcome.

2. Add public transportation in app for users to choose as their vehicle type to match available restriction settings in WME.

   In WME we have: Private, Electric, Motorcycle, Public transportation, Taxi.
   In the app we have: Private, Taxi, Motorcycle (+ EV in a different menu)

   Main use case would be for unscheduled buses, such as tour buses, school buses, private hire buses, etc. that are not really “public transport”, but are allowed to use bus-only roads and turns.
   Local authorities can define bus+taxi or just bus restrictions for turns and streets. We can map this correctly in WME, but then users don’t have an option that would route them through public transport only areas.

4. Prioritize Full CarPlay Integration: HUD & Instrument Cluster Directions

   Hello Waze Team,

   This post is to strongly urge the prioritization of full integration with Apple CarPlay to enable turn-by-turn navigation on built-in Head-Up Displays (HUD) and digital instrument clusters.

   This remains one of the most critical safety and convenience features missing from Waze, and it's a primary reason why many drivers reluctantly switch to Apple Maps when using CarPlay.

   The Technical Framework Exists

   We understand that enabling this feature is entirely possible within Apple's provided framework. The process is initiated by implementing the mapTemplateShouldProvideNavigationMetadata(_:) delegate method. By returning true from this function, Waze can signal to CarPlay that it is ready to supply the necessary navigation metadata for the car's native screens.

   This isn't a niche request. An extensive and growing list of vehicles from major manufacturers already support this feature for Apple Maps and would immediately benefit from a Waze update. Implementing this would instantly improve the Waze experience for drivers of:

7. Handicap vehicle type

   Iin addition to the existing types of vehicle (private, taxi, motorcycle), it would be good to have one for people with reduced mobility.
   This would make no difference in navigation compared to a private vehicle.
   The only difference would be the display of disabled parking spaces near the destination.
   This could be a big help in a large car park, shopping centre car park or simply on the streets to help them find their reserved parking spaces.
   I think there would be no problem marking these parking spaces in WME, either centrally, like EV chargers, gas stations, or manually by editors.
   In this way Waze could help the everyday lives of the already disadvantaged.
   (Even a simple toggle switch in the settings would be enough, although it wouldn’t be as newsworthy for Waze. :slight_smile: )

8. Add Kia EV6 vehicle

   Electric Vehicles are becoming more prominent in the United States.
   I'm requesting a (white) Kia EV6 as a selectable Vehicle to display in 3D on the map as a personal vehicle.

   I wanted to also point out that as of today, 01/08/25, there are literally no white crossovers/utilty vehicles to even choose from - at all.

   Add the EV6 and my soul is yours.

9. "Categories" issue in app / AA

   Tapping the Where to? search field brings up another Where to? search filed, under which it shows the "Saved" "Gas" etc. menu. This menu of "Categories" is badly organized/sequenced: seems to me that during a drive the most important order of locations would be "Gas" "Parking" perhaps "EV Charging" and "Hotels", followed by Food Drive-thru Coffee Groceries Medical care Pharmacies, and finally Shopping and Parks. The fact that in Android Auto only the first of those categories show compounds the problem. Suggestion: have a more logical sequence and show all of them in AA, and/or let the user arrange them as is most meaningful to them.

10. A few user stories for supporting BEV / electromobility in Waze

    Dear Wazers,

    I have been using your product far before "the Google times." When I first downloaded Waze, the road to my home was not "Wazed-paved" yet, so I had to pave it myself :). Anyway, that's not what I'm writing you about. I want to extend a request to you through a few user stories, which would significantly enhance my electromobility driving experience. I hope you're already thinking in that direction, and we'll see enhancements for BEV (battery-electric vehicles) soon.

    There're plenty of elecromobile-specific apps, but Waze is my current choice for a guidance app. As such, I am suffering because I need to switch back/forth from Waze to another app when it comes time to plan a long drive.

    If you would like to enhance our experience with Waze easily, you could partner with the two most powerful solutions, PlugShare and abetterrouteplanner.com (of course, if they agree). But I think you're big enough to believe in enhancing your app by yourself and giving us the functionality to fulfill our e-mobility needs.

    I took the liberty to draft a few user stories, which I can find very useful. Although all of them will give excellent functionality to Waze, the first one is the most important, which would position Waze as the first massively used navigation software which incorporates proper functionality for e-mobility. I hope you have plans to win this market even better.

    In any case, here're the stories. Each story has a justification/overview to it.

    As a user, I need to see charging stations on the map so that I can plan my travel accordingly

    This one is the "mother of all e-mobility" stories. Of course, it's so big that it's easily epic, but shortly said, we, the users, need a way to see the charging stations on the map.

    The distinguished properties of each charger on the map should be like those below:

      name: "Awesome charger" # The name of the charging station, user free-form
      owner: "EVPoint" # the charging station owner
      description: "Please use our apps, available at our home page https://evpoint.bg/, to activate the charger."
      max-power: 150 # the maximum power, in kW, of the whole station. Sometimes people use only this parameter to judge the power delivery speed, but often it's necessary to have granulation per socket.
      connectors: # Lists all charging connectors available at the station. This is a good reference for it: https://evcharging.enelx.com/resources/blog/552-ev-charging-connector-types
        - CCS2: # CCS2 charging connectors at the station
            - count: 2 # two CCS2 charging connectors
            - max-power: 75 # 75 kW max power each
        - CHADEMO: # Chademo connectors at the station
            - count: 1 # one Chademo connector
            - max-power: 50 # 50 kW max power 
    

    The description might seem optional, but without it we will need a place to know the URL from which we will access the charging app. Usually, most of the manufacturers have their specific apps. So any particular data on how to access the station services is put in this field.

    A very important part of this functionality is the filters. When a BEV travels a long distance, we usually use the fact DC-chargers. These give us a charge for approx 100-150 miles (150-250 km) in 10-20 minutes. Most of these chargers are located near (or directly as part of) existing gas stations.

    As part of an MVP, I would accept the first four fields, with the ability to filter by max-power. However, an "MVP-2" stage with the connectors property, and the ability to filter by their type, will be a must since not all cars support all connectors. For example, a TESLA might have its own connector only, and my car has only CCS2 for DC charging.

    As a user, I would like to enter my BEV range so that Waze helps me plan longer rides

    This is a must if I could use Waze as my assistant for BEV travels. My vehicle has a range (let's simplify this for now - just a number of km or miles in my account).

    Based on this range, Waze could show me in a friendly way, directly over my travel map, where my coverage ends. Then I can zoom in, choose a suitable charging station, and plan my ride accordingly (see below). For this, Waze has to have support for more than one Stops (I think right now you allow only one stop, but even this would do, for an MVP, it's more than OK).

    As a user, I need better support for community-driven charging station data and status

    The community feedback is critical since the map is not yet saturated with chargers. Thus, having the ability to rate/comment on each charging station is a functionality that I use very often. When I plan my trip, I usually avoid chargers, where the community says "broken." And when a charger comes back online, the community is very fast to indicate this.

    The best way to leave feedback is to indicate if any user had a successful charging session. A simple Yes/No would do. The system can then calculate an overall rating per charger and display it in a Rating section. The written feedback from each user can also be displayed there (if there's such a given with the "Charge-successful/unsuccessful" rate).

12. Custom vehicle types

    There should be an option to add custom vehicle types along with the three existing. I am often switching between the company van, my diesel 4x4 and electric daily runabout, and my navigation requirements and wishes for these are different as they all have different use cases. Would be nice to add more profiles so I can easily swap between EV specific and diesel for instance, and also have one where I can leave the option for gravel roads on, or even set gravel roads as preferred if possible, this also kinda applies to ADV motorcycles.

    I recently purchased a new Ford Mach-E. I’ma little disappointed in the Waze app vs Apple Maps. First let me say I HATE APPLE MAPS. They are not user friendly, doesnt report police, potholes, or anything useful. However with my Mach-E Apple Maps knows the battery percentage on my car and will automatically add a charging stop to my road trip if needed. If Waze does this I cannot figure it out. If Waze doesn’t could this be an update feature you look into!! EV cars are becoming more popular and I really want to use a map that benefits all my needs. Right now I am using 2 mapping systems for road trips so that I can get the correct ETA for arrival due to the need to stop and charge.

15. Headup display on windshield for carplay/android auto

    Hello Waze Team,

    This post is to strongly urge the prioritization of full integration with Apple CarPlay to enable turn-by-turn navigation on built-in Head-Up Displays (HUD) and digital instrument clusters.

    This remains one of the most critical safety and convenience features missing from Waze, and it's a primary reason why many drivers reluctantly switch to Apple Maps when using CarPlay.

    The Technical Framework Exists

    We understand that enabling this feature is entirely possible within Apple's provided framework. The process is initiated by implementing the mapTemplateShouldProvideNavigationMetadata(_:) delegate method. By returning true from this function, Waze can signal to CarPlay that it is ready to supply the necessary navigation metadata for the car's native screens.

16. Add a car's engine coolant temperature display to the Waze screen

    Many cars don't have a display on the dashboard, but can display the data via a Bluetooth connection with a wireless adapter in the OBD2 port.

    2,3 m széles 1 sima Ford tranzit is. Stuttgartban vannak 2m széles útszakaszok itt nagyon szoktak utálni a szembe jövők! 😁 A magasság is fontos lenne egy lakóautó esetében, de még a céges tranzitom is 2,7 magas és ezzel is volt már problémám. 10 éve vagyok felhasználó Anglia, Németország, Magyarország miden szuper, de ez a probléma minden hol hozott már kellemetlen helyzetbe.

20. Eco-drive helper

    For eco-drive enthusiasts, you could create a function that shows upcoming speed limits with an adjustable distance. For example, I would like to be informed about speed limits approximately 400 meters in advance, so I can deactivate the cruise control and let the car coast to the correct speed for the upcoming limit. For EVs, this would simultaneously involve regenerative braking, saving me fuel and brake pads. The environment would be cleaner, etc. Adaptive notification would be an advanced solution. It would use the g-sensor to understand my inertia and the speed difference from upcoming speed limits.
