Updated alternate route feature.
My account has been selected to use the updated alternate route feature.
Based on my experience, the UX/UI of the previous version is much better than the latest, I can easily compare the 3 routes on 1 page, but the updated alternative routes features require scrolling to do the comparison, I will need to remember the routes, total distance, arrival time before scrolling to the 2nd and 3rd route options for comparison and this defeat the purpose of the update?
Sorry to say that I don't see the benefit of this updated alternate route option.

Route overview on Android auto
Add the route overview using Android Auto on the car display. This function it's only available using the smartphone app.

Route change warning due to traffic or closure
It would be nice to get a warning of when a route is changed from the original route, especially taking local roads instead of freeway due to traffic or closure. I could see a few traffic pins before navigating, but usually it's not a big deal because it's typically a minor slowdown. At times, there are no pins before navigating because the route is different than normal. People are accustomed to their daily routine route that it can cause temporary confusion on why the route is changed.

Fun route options
The app can give a route suggestion for more economical fuel use by showing a leaf on the route when selecting which route to take. My suggestion is to have a "fun route" option that can have a symbol associated with it that focuses on fun roads, curvy, elevation changes, etc. for those who want a fun drive and care less about fuel economy or fastest route.

Safest route
In addition to quickest route, display safest route, incorporating factors like street lights at night, bad potholes, and animal crossing (e.g. deer crossing during dawn and dusk, when deer are out).

Lock the route
Once WAZE sets the initial route, let me press a button to lock the directions so they don't change while I'm en route. Often if I'm driving on a freeway (in LA) I will get random instructions to "make a U-turn (on the 405?)" or to turn on some surface street. I assume its because the app is re-calculating as I go or doesn't recognize that I did take the correct off-ramp, but these unnecessary commands are distracting and its hard to tell which are valid and which are not. Present Route Options First
I recently was going to drive home, a 30 mile trip. Waze said traffic was bad and it was going to take an hour and twenty minutes. I opened up the route options and was appalled to see Waze was going to take me on a route 52.7 miles (for a 30 mile trip) to save 11 minutes. Drive an extra 22.7 miles?! Cmon Waze, gotta do better than that. Please initiate routes by allowing us to select our route by showing us an overview of our options. Thanks!

Clean up Navigation route
Make your navigation route easier to see in congested areas by removing all the stuff not on your route. When using navigation, remove alerts, users, and traffic that are not on the identified route. Also, allow for traffic condition to be seen under the navigation route.

Show alternate route traffic
Give the capability to tap the screen to see alternate route traffic. For instance, Original Route goes from Point A to B to C to D to E. Along the way, WAZE reroutes and goes from A to B to M to N to E.
It would be beneficial to the user to be able to tap the screen, and see both routes- the new one, and the original with red where the traffic is.12 votes -
When searching a company along your route
when searching a company along your route, WAZE should show these findings along your route. There is yet an app to do this successfully. When your search just "gas" or "fast food" it does an amazing job but when you search "McDonald's" or "Carl's Jr" it only shows locations scattered around you not along your route. This could be very helpful for family trips to plan out stops or if in route to be able to quickly see if you need to stop right there or if there is a location worth waiting for maybe 10 miles…

Event alerts-"On Route" as a default
I am tired of seeing like 22 event alerts (cops, traffic, etc.) while driving my inputed route. when I hit the red exclamation mark it takes me to them and then I can select "On Route" to find out which one's only apply to the way I'm going...why not make the "On Route" button the default instead of "Around Me"???

Deviation from normal route
If traffic dictates a change from my normal route to and from work, it should make a notification. No one keeps route guidance on for their daily commute

purple route line hides traffic
When in navigation mode the purple route line hides the yellow and red lines showing traffic congestion. This discourages me from using the navigation. There could be an option to turn the purple line on/off just like there is an option to turn voice commands on/off

display only live-info and events relevant to the current route
Add option, that would:
- enforce event pop-ups (such as accidents, etc.) to show only if they happen on the current route to destination (no need to se events in radius when not on the route)
- display only number of events (under the icon with the red excl. mark) relevant to the current route to destination (this would help user open the live info only when there is a number indicating something going on on the route799 votes -

I know a shorter, straighter, less turnings route to get to a specific area, yet Waze is taking me through the longest way possible.

Compare Waze suggested route with actual route taken
Sometimes I decide to deviate from the Waze-suggested route, in which case Waze updates its routing information accordingly.
I would love to be able to see what would have happened hadn't I deviated. In other words, a comparison of where I am versus where I would have been had I not change my route.3 votes -
Needs route shaping.
Instead of just creating a route, Waze needs to allow route shaping with way points like Google Maps does.

Route with toll charge
As the route suggested in the first place is always the fastest route (even if it has associated costs), it would be nice to have a warning before starting the route, whenever it was a route that included toll roads. Thank you.

Save a route
I have a specific back roads route I like to use when travelling that I would like to save. I can't find this feature in Waze, but would like to assign it to a favorite and share with my family and friends.
